There's a writer in each of us

Who are we?

SharedStories is a project that aims to reduce senior loneliness and social isolation by offering skills-based writing workshops that allow participants to connect with their personal stories and with others in meaningful and sustainable ways.

The author of eight poetry collections and a novel, she has led over 250 writing workshops, master classes and seminars from universities to elementary schools in Canada and abroad. She has taught in traditional and digital classrooms; in urban, rural, and indigenous settings (including Inuit communities in Quebec's north). She had mentored aspiring writers and at-risk youth, led poetry workshops for the Quebec Writers' Federation and coached educators on how to teach creative writing. For over a decade, she participated in “Quebec Roots”, an innovative educational project created by the Blue Metropolis Literary Foundation, in which a writer/photographer team partners with students to help them develop and publish a photo-essay of their community. Aranza is a polyglot business student who has travelled abroad to expand her knowledge on multiculturalism and languages.  By working alongside elders and boomers, her experience has given SharedStories authenticity and a sense of trust.  Her short stories have been published in the newspaper and she is currently working on a book. She’s excited to contribute and grow this project as a co-lead.
Sheri is an educator and youth travel guide writer at www.stellasstories.ca & www.stellas7stories.com.  She holds an MSc. in Physical Geography, BSc. in Ecology, BEd., TESL/TEFL Certification and is currently pursuing her MBA.  Her experiences studying, working, and travelling in Canada and abroad have helped to shape her perspectives.  As a mom living in a multi-generational household, Sheri wants to challenge the way we view aging, learning and connection.  She’s excited to be a co-lead on the SharedStories experience.
